horror film research

Paranormal activity was the first in the sequel, it was very popular amongst the majority. The main convention of this film is to scare people through the use of ghosts, they also try to create a sense of the unknown not being able to see your attacker. This is stereotypically found in horror films because it adds tension to the the audience into a shock of terror. From this research we could use a similar style.

The Grudge is another film that has been a huge success. There has been 3 of these movies. The reason it is so scary is because of the unknown factor. The film is about a demented young girl that haunts people that enter the home that she died in. The reason people love it is because the demented child is really weird and kills people in strange ways. It also torments its victims which torments the audience as well. This is a stereotypical horror film because people that have done nothing wrong are being murdered. This creates shocking images which is important as it makes the audience believe it could be anyone. We would look to use a similar mysterious to cause friction for the audience.

Saw has had as many as 6 different films with the same story behind all of them but they have tried to change them and make them better. This is the reason why they have had so much success with each film because of how the story changes everytime. It's scary because the people involved are being tortured and the only way out is by doing stuff they wouldn't normally do. Some of these may include cutting body parts of themselves and their friends and so on. The problem is they still cant win and get out alive they still end up dead. This film is stereotypical to other horror films because it is intensifying and horrible this is why it has been so successful over the past years.
